A man who was critically injured after allegedly being attacked with a knife by his son in Lucknow on August 14 died during treatment on Tuesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Babulal (67). Police said he was attacked on Aug 14 by his son Shiv Kumar alias Guddu (40), following which an FIR was registered at Mohanlalganj police station under Section 109(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). On Aug 24, his health reportedly worsened suddenly, prompting relatives to shift him to Vidya Hospital for further care. Police said he remained under treatment there and died on Sept 8. Police said the accused was arrested on Aug 15. He was sent to judicial custody on Aug 16 and is currently in jail.
Police said the cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report and a review of medical records and other evidence. After receiving information about the death, Mohanlalganj police began legal formalities. An inquest was conducted and the body was sent for post-mortem examination. Investigators are examining the circumstances leading to the deterioration in his condition. The knife allegedly used in the attack was recovered on the basis of information given by him.

Family members said his condition remained stable for several days. After the alleged assault, Babulal was taken to hospital and underwent treatment.
