Varanasi: Financial assistance worth over ₹1.91 crore was approved for 11,219 beneficiaries in Varanasi from May 2017 to Sept 8, 2026, under Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund.

Additional district magistrate (protocol) Vinay Kumar Singh said the assistance reflects govt’s sensitivity towards financially weaker families dealing with serious diseases and unforeseen crises. District magistrate Satyendra Kumar said the administration is committed to ensuring that eligible people receive the benefits of the scheme promptly and transparently, enabling families in crisis to get timely relief. UP govt is providing assistance to eligible beneficiaries to ensure that lack of money does not become a barrier to medical treatment. The initiative is also part of efforts to strengthen the state’s healthcare support system for vulnerable families. Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund provides immediate financial relief for the treatment of critical illnesses such as cancer, heart disease, kidney disease and brain tumours. The district administration is working to ensure that financial assistance reaches eligible beneficiaries on time. Efforts are being made to keep the application, verification, recommendation and approval process simple, transparent and time-bound.
