Authorities in Gorakhpur have reported the discovery of a deceased 45-year-old IIT engineer in his apartment located in the Sahara Estate area. Neighbors alerted the police after noticing a foul odor coming from the flat. Upon investigation, officers recovered the body from Malhar Apartment on Friday. Preliminary assessments suggest that the body had been there for approximately three to four days.

Authorities found the body of Abhishek Tripathi, who lived alone, after attempts to contact him were unsuccessful. Police forced entry into his residence when repeated calls went unanswered. A post-mortem examination was conducted, but officials have not yet determined the cause of death.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, he shifted to Gorakhpur while working from home. He reportedly lost his job around four years ago and had since been battling mental health issues.
Abhishek had studied at IIT and worked for a multinational company in Noida, according to family members. His treatment was arranged in Lucknow, but his condition did not improve fully.
CO GIDA Kirti Nidhi Anand said the flat was locked from inside and the exact cause of death remained unclear. Further investigation is in progress,” he said. “The room was found in disarray. The mobile phone is locked and efforts are underway to access it.
