Jhansi : As many as 2,78,154 cases were settled through mutual agreement at the third National Lok Adalat of 2026 organised at the district court premises here on Saturday. The Lok Adalat was organised under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and State Legal Services Authority (SALSA).
The cases settled included 49 matrimonial matters, 67 civil cases and 7,049 other cases. As many as 8,641 compoundable criminal cases were also disposed of, with Rs 6,45,295 collected as fines. Various revenue and criminal courts in the district settled 144 revenue cases and 1,309 criminal cases, besides 10,816 electricity consumer disputes, 149 labour disputes and 94,885 cases under the Public Services Guarantee Act. In the pre-litigation category, 1,349 bank loan cases involving Rs 2.86 crore and six mobile-bill related cases were settled.

Additional principal judge, Family Court, Harish Chandra, disposed of 49 family matters. Chief judicial magistrate Sudha Yadav settled 3,119 cases, while additional civil judge (CD)/additional chief judicial magistrate Anil Kumar-VII disposed of 2,009 cases. The officials described the settlement of 2,78,154 cases on Saturday a record for the district.
