Eight Arrested Following Suspicious Death of Alleged Drug Peddler in Jhansi

Jhansi police have arrested eight individuals, including a police constable, in connection with the death of a 21-year-old man, identified as Parvez, who was allegedly involved in drug trafficking. The arrests were made after investigators uncovered a potential scheme in which the accused may have been using a self-styled anti-crime group as a cover for extorting money from drug-related individuals.

Parvez left his home late at night, informing his family he would return shortly. However, around 1 a.m., they were notified that he had been found injured and was taken to Jhansi Medical College, where he later died.

The arrested suspects include Priyanshu Soni (30), Jai Srivastava alias Aman (24), Sahil Mishra (21), Bhupendra Vanshkar (23), Yash Shivhare alias Bittu (23), Ashiqil Khan (20), Shani Namdev (24), and constable Ashish Singh (30). Law enforcement has also confiscated several vehicles, including a red Maruti Suzuki Ignis, a Ford EcoSport, and a Maruti Suzuki S-Cross, along with seven mobile phones.

According to police reports, Parvez was lured under the pretense of viewing a drug sample and was transported to Prem Nagar. Investigators believe the group planned to intimidate him with the threat of police action to extract money from him.

Murder Investigation Launched After Parvez Ali’s Death

Police have initiated a murder investigation following the death of Parvez Ali, whose body was discovered in the Nagara Haat area on September 13. Initial assessments suggested an accidental death; however, a post-mortem examination uncovered significant injuries, including bruises and bite marks. This prompted law enforcement to register a murder case based on a complaint filed by Ali’s father, Ahsan Ali.
