Kanpur:A 24-year-old woman, Amita Singh, died by suicide at her elder sister’s house in Naubasta Hanspuram late on Wednesday.

Police said a suicide note recovered from the scene said that she was under depression for her illness. Naubasta Inspector Bahadur Singh said Amita said action would be taken, if a complaint was received. Police seized her mobile phone and the suicide note and sent her body for postmortem. Family members said she had suffered epileptic seizures for two years. Amita, originally from Sirouti village in Gonda, had been living with her married elder sister Babita for about a year while undergoing treatment for epilepsy. On Wednesday evening, Amita told her mother Pushpa over phone that she felt she might die. she was later found hanging from a fan in her room.
