Kanpur: A 45-year-old man allegedly beat his 15-year-old son to death in Auraiya’s Purvi Somvanshi village on Monday night over the suspected theft of Rs 900. The accused, Ummed Singh, was arrested from a village field the same night.
Father Charged After Son’s Death in Alleged Assault
In a tragic incident, a father named Singh has been charged following the death of his son, which occurred during an altercation fueled by accusations of theft. Singh claimed he acted in a moment of rage after discovering that money was missing from his pocket. He cited prior complaints from villagers regarding theft allegations against his son.
The police are conducting an investigation, having sent the body for a postmortem examination. A forensic team has collected evidence from the scene, and injury marks were noted on the deceased. The autopsy report is expected to clarify the cause of death and the extent of the injuries sustained.
According to a relative, the victim denied the theft, asserting that Rs 300 had been spent and Rs 600 given to a friend before the incident. Police were alerted to the situation around midnight.
Singh, who has been raising his three children as a farmer since the death of his wife 14 years ago, is currently facing serious charges as the investigation unfolds.
She said Singh also struck her when she tried to intervene. The victim’s sister, who witnessed the assault, alleged that her father tied up the boy and beat him with a stick for about half an hour.
