Kanpur: A 50-year-old woman from Jarauli in Barra was found dead outside a community centre in Kalyanpur, Kanpur, on Wednesday night.

She had an injury mark on her forehead, police said.

Police said Singh’s husband had died, and her son, Prakhar, was pursuing a BCA course in Mathura. Police reached the spot after being alerted by local residents and took her to the nearest community health centre, where doctors declared her dead. The woman was identified as Kanchan Singh . Police recovered a handbag containing her Aadhaar card, which bore a Jankipuram, Lucknow, address, three PAN cards, four debit and credit cards, and two Roadways bus tickets for Kannauj. They are gathering information about why she had come to Kanpur and the circumstances surrounding her death.

DCP West SM Qasim Abidi said that a preliminary investigation suggested Singh may have suffered a cardiac arrest and fallen, sustaining the forehead injury.
