Kanpur: A court in Kanpur on Thursday rejected the bail plea of a Kesco junior engineer accused of criminal breach of trust and misuse of his official position.
Rejecting the application, additional sessions judge August Kumar Tiwari observed that the accused, Munna Yadav, had allegedly misused his post as a junior engineer and that the nature of the offence was serious.
The case relates to the purchase of 35,161 kg of scrap that was auctioned on June 17, 2026, and loaded under the supervision of JE Munna Yadav. Yadav allegedly facilitated the loading of 12,149 kgs scrap in excess of the sanctioned quantity in last withdrawal and manipulated the weighing process to show a lower weight, according to assistant district govt counsel Sanjay Jha . Therefore, without commenting on the merits of the case, the bail application is rejected as there are no sufficient grounds to grant bail,” the court observed.
“The offence is serious in nature and it cannot be ruled out that the investigation may be affected if the accused is released on bail.
