Kanpur: A man died after a speeding container hit a car, causing it to ram another vehicle on Agra-Lucknow Expressway near Bichpurwa village in Kannauj district late Tuesday.
The container, travelling from Kanpur towards Agra, hit the rear of a car carrying Jigyash, a resident of Vishunpuri Colony in Nabawganj, Kanpur, and Amit Chauhan, according to police. Police said that container driver fled the spot. The impact caused their car to crash into another vehicle during which both the cars were damaged. The seriously injured Amit was taken to CHC Talgaram, where doctors declared him dead. UPEIDA security officer Shashikant Mishra, assistant security officer Omprakash Singh and police reached the site after being informed. The damaged cars were taken to Talgaram police station using a crane.

Inspector-in-charge Ranjana Pandey said Amit’s family had been informed and his body sent for post-mortem. An FIR would be registered after a complaint was received, he said. Download the TOI App.
