Kanpur: A man, in an inebriated state allegedly tried to attack his eight-year-old daughter with a knife and assaulted his wife when she intervened in the Chakeri police station area on Tuesday evening.
The woman told police that her husband frequently assaulted her and their daughter while in a drunken state. The knife struck the woman in the back as she attempted to save the child. The man then allegedly bit his daughter on the back and assaulted his wife. The woman, however, managed to rescue the girl. Following the incident, she lodged a complaint at Chakeri police station.

Station house officer Ajay Prakash Mishra said the girl had undergone a medical examination. He said a case would be registered based on the complaint and further action would be taken accordingly. Download the TOI App.
