Kanpur: An out-of-control private bus allegedly hit a moped near Digh village on the Kanpur-Jhansi Highway in Kanpur Dehat around 8am on Sunday, killing one man and critically injuring another.
Home guard Ramaasare (50), a resident of Girdaun village, was riding to the district headquarters with his relative Matadin (55) when a bus coming from the Jhansi side struck their moped, according to police. Doctors later referred him to a medical college after providing primary treatment due to his critical condition. Police said Matadin died on the spot, while Ramaasare sustained serious injuries. Police said the body was sent for postmortem examination, and efforts are underway to nab the absconding bus driver.
