Kanpur: As many as 256 newly appointed Anganwadi workers in the district received their appointment letter on Tuesday. An event was held at Merchant Chamber Hall where chief development officer Abhinav J Jain handed over appointment letter to 30 newly appointed workers.

The “Annaprashan” ceremony (first solid food feeding ritual) was performed for two boys, Krishna and Mridul, conveying the message of the importance of proper nutrition for children. Meanwhile, appointment letters were also distributed at events held in the Ghatampur, Bilhaur, and Narwal tehsils, as well as the Kalyanpur development block. During the event, the broadcast of the Anganwadi felicitation ceremony held in Ayodhya was also viewed. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath made four significant announcements regarding the honorarium and social security of Anganwadi workers and helpers. Seven Anganwadi workers who had performed exceptionally well were honored with certificates of appreciation at a function held at the Merchant Chamber Hall. Among them were Asha Devi and Chandravati Devi from Bidhnu Block; Annu, Vandana Sahu, and Vandana Savita from City-I; and Shanti and Parvati Devi from City-II. These workers were honored for their commendable contributions towards screening children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), conducting regular health check-ups, organizing ECCE activities, and ensuring the regular and compliant operation of Anganwadi centers. Parents of children who transitioned from the SAM (Severely Acute Malnourished) category to the normal category were also specially felicitated. Beneficiaries of various schemes related to women and child welfare were also felicitated at the event. Under the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme, special nutrition kits and gift hampers were presented to newborn girls-Aarti, Deepali, Kirti, Raveena, and Ayesha. Certificates were distributed to beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana. In this sequence, the birthday of a young girl, Alina Ansari, was celebrated in the presence of guests.
