Kanpur: On Tuesday, Additional Sessions Judge IX Rakesh Tripathi sentenced three individuals to life imprisonment for the murder of a young man. Each defendant was also fined Rs 51,000. This ruling underscores the legal system’s response to violent crime in the region.
The uncle of the deceased, had stated that his nephew Vaibhav Yadav, along with Abhinav Yadav and his niece Smriti Yadav were returning home on April 19, 2023, according to assistant district government counsel. The prosecution examined around 11 witnesses before the court and established charges against them. The convicts were identified as Pritul Singh Senger alias Yogesh Singh, Aditya Sharma alias Mani and Rishabh Parihar, all residents of Rawatpur under Kalyanpur police station. Abhinav and Smriti were travelling on the scooter while Vaibhav was riding a motorcycle. When they reached Vinayakpur’s Panchwati area, Pritul Singh Senger, Mani and another unidentified person allegedly passed obscene comments at Smriti. When Vaibhav objected, the accused allegedly abused and assaulted him. Pritul attacked Vaibhav with an iron rod with the intention of killing him while the other two accused allegedly kicked and punched him. The accused fled when people started gathering at the spot.
