Kanpur: Police arrested two youths in the city’s Maswanpur area late on Thursday night and recovered 6 kg of ganja from them. The accused were identified as Amar Singh Gihar (28) and Arjun Verma (22), both residents of Kanjadpurwa in Kidwai Nagar. Police registered a case under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act and produced the accused in court, which sent them to jail.
Police said a team conducting checks of vehicles received information that the two youths were carrying ganja for sale. Rawatpur police station in-charge Kamlesh Kumar Rai said the investigators were examining the accused’s criminal history and trying to establish from where they had procured the ganja and to whom they sold it. Officers cordoned off an area near Maswanpur. The suspects allegedly tried to flee after seeing police but were chased and caught. A search yielded the ganja and cash, which were seized. The two were taken to Rawatpur police station for questioning.
