Agra: Patiyali block development officer Sanjeev Kumar has been shifted from Kasganj to the chief development officer’s (CDO) office after a purported video of him demanding a 10% commission for govt works began circulating widely on social media. “I get 10%; from it I give 3-4% to officials.

It also allegedly contains abusive language, a warning against indulging in “netagiri” (political posturing) and a threat to send someone to jail for questioning the arrangement. In the clip, Kumar allegedly claims that part of the money had to be passed on to senior district officials. There is a system, BDO is separate, CDO is separate, DM is separate, DDO is separate… Kumar is heard saying in the purported clip. The video has triggered a stir in the district administration. However, officials have not yet established its authenticity or the context of the conversation. The recording purportedly shows Kumar insisting that the entire amount be brought in to get govt work done. On the instructions of DM Pranay Singh, a committee headed by an officer of ADM rank has been formed to investigate the matter.

Kumar was removed from the responsibility of Patiyali BDO on Thursday and attached to the CDO’s office, an official said.
