Kanpur: Three women cricketers — Archana Devi, Tripti Singh and Garima Yadav of Kanpur Cricket Association — have been selected for UPCA’s senior team, which will participate in the Senior Women T-20 Trophy championship slated to be held at Pune from Oct 26. Archana Devi is a right-arm off-break bowler, Tripti Singh is a batswoman and Garima Yadav is a medium-fast bowler.
KCA secretary Sanjay Kapoor, chairman of the UP T-20 governing council, and officials congratulated the women. The itinerary is: Oct 26 — UP vs Hyderabad, Oct27 — vs Puducherry, Oct 31 — vs Delhi, Nov 2 — vs Mumbai, Nov 4 — vs Jharkhand and Nov 6 — vs Uttarakhand. Athletics trial: Selection trials for the district- and divisional-level junior boys’ athletics team will be held by the regional sports office at the district sports office, Kanpur Dehat, on Oct 24 and 25 at 11 am and 3 pm, respectively.
UP has been placed in Elite Group D and will play its first match against Hyderabad.
The state meet will be held in Varanasi on Oct 31 and Nov 1, according to the regional sports officer.
