Landlord Ompal, 70, said he approached the police several times to allow him access, but every time he was told the case was sub judice
“It’s been 17 months since a portion of my house, including two rooms and a garage, has been under police seal. I do not want to stay here now and wish to sell it off,” said 70-year-old Ompal. The crime came to light on March 17 after a foul smell emanating from the drum led to the discovery of the body. The court sentenced them to death on Oct 14.
I approached the police several times to allow me access, but every time I was told the case was sub judice. Meanwhile, a source at Brahampuri police station said the rooms had not been officially sealed but were locked as a precautionary measure. “Some belongings are still at the property and the families may want to collect them,” the source said, adding that efforts were under way to contact them. Muskan’s parents had told TOI that they had decided not to appeal against the death sentence awarded to their daughter, but jail sources said the convicts intended to approach the high court.
I want to sell my house as it is a tainted one now. Now that the verdict has come, I want my rooms back. I am very disturbed. The Meerut SSP office directed Ompal to the Brahampuri police station, where the FIR in the case was registered. The two were arrested and remained in custody during the trial.
The case dates back to March last year, when Muskan and Sahil killed Muskan’s husband, Saurabh Rajput, chopped his body into pieces and placed the remains in a blue plastic drum filled with cement. Meerut : A week after Muskan Rastogi and Sahil Shukla were sentenced to death by a Meerut court in the infamous blue drum murder case, the landlord of the house where Muskan lived with her husband approached the senior superintendent of police (SSP) on Wednesday, seeking the unsealing of the portion where the crime took place.
All the evidence, including forensic swabs, have already been collected and analysed, and there is no fear of anything being lost in terms of evidence.
However, lawyers said the rooms in question have not been officially sealed. Prosecution lawyer KK Chaubey said, “Even in the case documents, there is no mention of sealing of the rooms. Had it been so, the court would have given directions on this aspect. Also, the verdict is already out.
