Lucknow: A 16-year-old girl was raped in Lucknow’s Itaunja area, following which police arrested a 19-year-old man named in the complaint, officials said.
The girl’s father lodged a complaint on Aug 30, alleging that the accused had raped his 16-year-old daughter, according to police. A police team acting on information from an informer arrested Abhishek around 10.45 pm on Monday. Police said the accused admitted his involvement during questioning. Further legal proceedings are underway, officials said. The accused is a resident of Karaundi village under Itaunja police station limits. Based on the complaint, police registered a case on charges of rape and wrongful confinement. Police recorded the girl’s statement, conducted a spot inspection and arranged her medical examination. Other evidence was also collected during the investigation. Download the TOI App.
