Lucknow: A 35-year-old woman and her 22-year-old brother-in-law were found hanging inside a room in Hardoi’s Bilgram area on Friday morning. The incident came to light when the woman’s eight-year-old son peeped through a window and discovered the bodies.
The child woke up around 8 am and went looking for his mother but found the room locked from inside.
Police said the deaths occurred in Habibnagar village under Bilgram Kotwali. Suspecting something was wrong, he looked through a window and saw his mother and uncle hanging from a ceiling hook with a sari. He immediately alerted family members, who informed the police. A police team reached the spot, broke open the door and brought down the bodies. The remains were sent for post-mortem examination, while a forensic team collected evidence from the room.
The woman had been married to the deceased man’s elder brother for around 12 years. Her husband, a contractor, had shifted his work to Ayodhya about 18 months ago. The family owns two houses about 500 metres apart.
Family members said he had returned home about a week ago. Some villagers alleged the two were in a relationship, though relatives said they were unaware of any such development.
