Lucknow: Ahead of Janmashtami , city markets wore a festive look as shoppers thronged Aminabad, Daliganj, Bhootnath and Chowk to shop for decoration material and other preparations. From home décor and temple accessories to Krishna-Radha outfits and silver ornaments, demand for festive items picked up noticeably.

At Daliganj, Menka Dubey brought her five-year-old son along to shop for his Kanha look. “My son wants to dress up like Kanha ji on Janmashtami, so I bought him the attire comprising a yellow satin dhoti, flute, crown, turban and peacock feather. At Aminabad, Sanjeev Mishra bought a Radha-Krishna wall hanging, earthen lamps bearing the ‘Happy Janmashtami’ message, peacock-feather stickers, a flute and Radhe-Shyam stickers for his temple. Meanwhile, Chowk Sarrafa market witnessed demand for silver cradles and jewellery.
