Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate a two-day textile industry event —

Lucknow: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath will inaugurate a two-day textile industry event — UPTEX 2026 — in Lucknow on Tuesday and extend Letters of Comfort (LoCs) to 50 new and expanding textile units. Speaking to reporters on the eve of the event, an official spokesperson said that UPTEX 2026 is part of the state’s push to attract fresh investment and generate employment in the sector.

“These units are benefitting under provisions of Uttar Pradesh Handloom, Powerloom, Silk, Textile and Garmenting Policy-2017 and the Uttar Pradesh Textile and Garmenting Policy-2022. So far, financial assistance amounting to Rs 416.75 crore has been distributed to 157 units,” they said. Informing that govt had undertaken several initiatives for weavers’ welfare over the past few years, they said under the Mukhyamantri Handloom and Powerloom Industry Development Scheme launched in 2023-24, as many as 4,122 weavers have received Rs 73.18 crore for buying new looms, construction of workshops and training.
