Lucknow: Close on the heels of the Gomti Book Festival, the 11-day 23rd National Book Fair is returning with a diverse line-up of books, authors and activities. This year, the fair will also introduce readers to emerging genres such as cli-fi (climate fiction), gothic romance, hopepunk, puzzle-box narratives and romantasy. The new categories are expected to bring fresh storytelling styles and themes for readers.
Visitors will also get a 10% discount on books, said fair convener Manoj Chandel. The fair will be held from Oct 1 to 11 at Balrampur Gardens and will remain open from 11 am to 9 pm daily. Around 120 stalls by more than 60 publishers are expected to be set up in the fair, offering visitors a wide range of books in Hindi, English and regional languages. The collection will include literature, educational books, children’s fiction and rare publications. At the dedicated corner for local writers, city-based authors will display and sell their books. The initiative is aimed at giving local writers an opportunity to connect with new readers and showcase the city’s literary talent. Among publishers expected to participate are Prabhat Prakashan, New Delhi; Sahitya Sarovar, Agra; Gita Press, Gorakhpur; Rekhta Publications, Noida; and Bhartiya Kala Prakashan, Delhi. Apart from book stalls, the fair will feature meet-the-author events, literary discussions, poetry sessions, book launches and workshops, creating a platform for readers to engage directly with writers, publishers and members of the literary community.
