The city reported 22 new dengue cases on Saturday, taking the year’s total to 622. Nearly 300 cases were recorded in Sept.

Dr KK Sawlani of KGMU’s medicine department said platelet transfusion is not required for every dengue patient. He said doctors decide on transfusion based on bleeding and other clinical indicators. He said govt hospitals provide dengue testing and treatment free of cost.

Lucknow: KGMU has started round-the-clock platelet processing to meet demand from dengue patients, with the blood bank now processing donations received after 5pm throughout the night. Chief medical officer Dr NB Singh advised people with fever to undergo testing and seek medical care. Singh also urged residents to prevent water stagnation around homes to check mosquito breeding.

The extended schedule is expected to improve availability for patients seeking platelets outside regular working hours.
