Lucknow: Strengthening cyber safety awareness in rural areas, the fifth edition of Cyber Panchayat, a joint initiative of Psy-Naree Welfare Foundation and RT Cyber Academy, was organised at a school in Bakshi Ka Talab.
Tandon also urged people to act swiftly in the event of cyber fraud by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 and filing complaints on the cybercrime reporting portal. The session was led by noted cybersecurity expert and RT Cyber Academy founder Rakshit Tandon. The initiative aims to simplify digital safety concepts for students, parents and local communities in rural and semi-urban regions. Using simple, relatable examples, the session covered phishing links, fake calls and messages, OTP and UPI frauds, social media account hacking, identity theft, cyberbullying, online gaming risks and the emerging menace of digital arrest scams. Attendees were advised to create strong and unique passwords, enable two-factor authentication, avoid clicking on unknown links or scanning suspicious QR codes and never share OTPs, PINs, CVVs or banking credentials with anyone. With smartphone and internet penetration increasing rapidly in villages, special emphasis was laid on safeguarding personal information, photographs and location details shared on social media platforms.
