Man held for killing cousin, trying to murder her daughter
Bijnor : Noorpur police on Saturday arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly murdering his cousin (30) and attempting to kill her three-year-old daughter in Alampur Adwa forest area earlier this week. On the basis of a complaint filed by Anil, police registered an FIR against Neeraj on Friday under sections 103(1) and 238 of the BNS. Section 109(1) was later added after the alleged attempt to kill the child came to light. ASP Rai said, “Neeraj took Usha and her two children to Haridwar and Rishikesh on Sept 19 before staying with them at a hotel in Noorpur. On the night of Sept 22, he allegedly strangled Usha near the sugarcane field and tried to kill her three-year-old daughter.
Police said Usha was Neeraj’s paternal uncle’s daughter, and the two had been in a relationship for around six months, adding that the deceased, who was facing marital problems, had been pressuring Neeraj to live with her. Police said Neeraj had taken Usha’s one-and-a-half-year-old son to his in-laws’ house in Moradabad. The accused, Neeraj Kumar , son of Ramavatar and a resident of Beelna village under Naugaon Sadat police station in Amroha district, was arrested along with the pickup vehicle allegedly used in the crime. He then allegedly set Usha’s body on fire and fled. The child was later recovered safely.
