Prayagraj : Only 129 candidates have been selected against 1,343 assistant teacher (trained graduate/LT Grade) posts in the science category in govt secondary schools due to a shortage of suitable candidates.
104 candidates were provisionally selected against 764 vacancies in the male branch, while 25 candidates were selected against 573 vacancies in the female branch, according to the final result announced by the commission. The preliminary examination for the science subject was held on Dec 7 and was attended by 49,538 candidates. Based on their performance, 329 candidates qualified for the main examination, which was conducted on May 16. Meanwhile, recruitment for 10 LT Grade special teacher posts in Sparsh Visually Impaired School/Integrated Special Secondary Schools is still underway, with the second paper of the main examination yet to be conducted. Despite nearly 50,000 candidates appearing for the preliminary examination, only a small fraction of the advertised science teacher vacancies could be filled, highlighting a significant shortage of eligible candidates.
Because suitable candidates were not available, in the male branch, 660 posts could not be filled, while 548 posts remained vacant in the female branch. The commission also said that six LT Grade special teacher posts in Sanket-Mook Badhir Vidyalaya/Integrated Special Secondary Schools and Prayas Physically Disabled School/Integrated Special Secondary Schools remained vacant due to the absence of eligible candidates.
