Police are searching for the source of a viral video showing Shalu Minocha dancing. Shalu and her husband (L) Vineet Minocha (M)
KANPUR: Police are now hunting for the person who recorded and circulated a viral video of Shalu Minocha, daughter-in-law of murdered pharmaceutical businessman Vineet (63), dancing at a Kanpur lounge on the night he was stabbed to death, reportedly on her instructions, hoping the source of the clip could help establish how and when it was recorded. DCP West S M Qasim Abidi said police reviewed footage from Cosmozin Lounge in Tilak Nagar, where Shalu (30) and her husband Subrat were present, but the particular dance clip was not found in the lounge’s camera footage. The viral clip had come to police attention during the investigation into the murder of Vineet, who was stabbed 26 times at his flat in the Kalyanpur police station area on Sept 5. One such video showed around 20-25 people, mostly couples, dancing to Bollywood songs. Investigators have found that she, her husband and former domestic help Vishal Gautam spoke 330 times in the 21 days before the murder. Of these, around 30 calls involved Shalu and nearly 300 involved Subrat. On the day of the murder, Shalu and Gautam spoke 14 times. Gautam allegedly brought in Raj Kishore, 30, and the two entered the flat on Sept 5 after posing as medicine delivery men. When Vineet returned around 10.55pm and discovered them, the duo allegedly attacked him.
The lounge’s camera DVR had no storage, police said, but videos recorded by staff confirmed the couple’s presence there.
“It is possible someone recorded it on a mobile phone,” he said, adding that police would try to trace the person’s device to determine the truth behind the video. The video shows Shalu dancing to “Tum To Dhokhebaaz Ho, Vaada Karke Bhool Jaate Ho” while the murder was allegedly unfolding at her house. Police said they hid in a bedroom and planned to suffocate Vineet to make the death appear natural.
Shalu was seen in a dark purple gown, while Subrat wore a grey shirt. Police suspect Shalu remained in contact with the alleged assailants during the crime. Police also recovered WhatsApp call records between the two despite Gautam allegedly deleting their chats. People are still probing the role of her husband in the crime.
