Polling for the Allahabad High Court Bar Association (HCBA) election is scheduled for September 17, taking place on the high court campus. Approximately 11,724 advocates are eligible to vote in this election, which will determine the 30 office-bearers of the association. This annual election is a significant event for the legal community in Prayagraj, as it shapes the leadership and direction of the HCBA.
The polling will take place from 9 am to 5 pm at the high court cricket ground. The high-profile post of president has drawn eight candidates, while the race for general secretary features 14 contenders. The election will be conducted in accordance with the association’s 33% reservation policy for women, ensuring adequate female representation. The contested positions (office-bearers) include one president, one senior vice president, six vice presidents (four male, two female), one general secretary, two treasurers (one male, one female), four joint secretaries (three male, one female), and 15 governing council positions (10 male, five female).
Returning officer Vashistha Tiwari said the district administration has assured adequate police deployment for smooth conduct of the election and traffic management in the surrounding areas.
