Lucknow: UP’s shift towards technology-driven irrigation and water management will be showcased at UPITS-2026, with the Irrigation and Water Resources Department putting up live engineering models, SCADA and AI-based systems at its pavilion in Hall 6 at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida.
Advancements in Water Management Technology
Recent advancements in water management technology include the installation of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems at 15 major dams and barrages. These systems facilitate electronic gate operations from centralized control rooms, enabling real-time monitoring of water infrastructure. Visitors to these facilities will observe how technology is applied in the management of dams, barrages, canals, and government tubewells, as well as the strategies implemented for flood control and the efficient utilization of water resources.
Showcasing Modern Irrigation and Flood Management Technologies
The upcoming pavilion will highlight significant infrastructure projects, including the Bansagar Canal, Pahari Dam, Arjun Sahayak Canal, and Saryu Canal National projects. It will also demonstrate advanced technologies for flood management such as concrete mattresses, silt vanes, sheet piles, and tetrapods.
Over the past nine and a half years, 19.48 lakh hectares of irrigation area have been added or restored, benefiting 44.81 lakh farmer families. The exhibition will feature pressure and sprinkler irrigation systems, solar-powered irrigation solutions, and canal desilting initiatives.
Principal Secretary Anil Garg stated that the pavilion aims to showcase the modern technologies adopted for irrigation, water management, and flood control.
