Purvanchal Sena members staging protest at Ambedkar Chowk in Gorakhpur against rape of a minor
The incident took place on Sept 9 in a village under Purandarpur police station limits, where a 55-year-old man, identified as Mewalal, allegedly raped the minor, according to the organisation.
Purvanchal Sena state secretary Manjesh Kumar termed the incident a crime that had “shaken humanity” and called for speedy justice for the victim. Police have arrested the accused and sent him to jail. The child is currently undergoing treatment at BRD Medical College in Gorakhpur.
Demands for Justice and Support for Victim
An organization has submitted a memorandum to the commissioner, calling for a fast-tracked trial and the harshest possible penalties for the accused. They emphasize the need for comprehensive medical treatment and rehabilitation services for the victim. Additionally, the organization is requesting financial aid of ₹1 crore for the child and her family, along with security measures and necessary government support to ensure their well-being.
