Varanasi: To strengthen medical readiness ahead of PM Narendra Modi ’s proposed visit and Indian Air Force ’s Air Show-2026, the emergency preparedness of private hospitals was checked by a team of health officials on Sunday.

The team led by chief medical officer Dr N P Singh under govt medical officer and CPR expert Dr Shivshakti Prasad Dwivedi, along with designated nodal officer Dr Rajeshwar Narayan Singh, started taking stock of the private hospitals, keeping the focus on emergency beds, ICU facilities and critical care to ensure prompt life-saving medical assistance. At each hospital, officials kept listing the availability of emergency beds, ICU facilities, critical care infrastructure and essential life-saving medical services. Hospital administrations were directed to reserve the prescribed number of emergency and ICU beds and ensure that all essential facilities remain fully operational. Effective coordination between hospital administrations and the health department’s designated nodal officers was emphasised to facilitate rapid communication and timely intervention during medical emergencies.

Medical arrangements at the hospitals inspected were found to be satisfactory. The health department will continue monitoring hospital preparedness and coordination to ensure effective emergency healthcare services.
