Lucknow: A 40-year-old police head constable was arrested on Sunday for allegedly killing his wife by repeatedly striking her on the head with an iron rod at their rented accommodation in the Paper Mill area of Mahanagar. The victim, identified as Rashmi Srivastava (38), died on the spot after sustaining grievous head injuries. The accused, Himanshu Srivastava (40), a 2011-batch head constable posted in the office of the Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Lucknow, has been taken into custody and is being questioned. The incident came to light around 2.30 pm when the landlord alerted the police control room, according to police.
