Lucknow: Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) on Sunday cancelled the second phase of its Nursing Officer and Hospital Attendant recruitment examinations after technical difficulties were reported during the first shift at some centres.
Around 8,500 candidates were scheduled to take the computer-based tests in two shifts across seven examination centres. The examination cell issued a cancellation notification for the Nursing Officer examination on Nov 1 and asked candidates to keep checking the institute’s website for updates on the rescheduled programme. In a letter dated Sept 1 to SGPGI Director Dr R K Dhiman, Additional Director Kritika Sharma questioned the arrangement, stating that the Joint Director (Administration) post was linked to finance service qualifications and flagging concerns over one officer handling multiple departments.
The institute said revised dates would be announced later and communicated to candidates in advance. SGPGI said disruptions in the first shift at a few venues prompted the institute to cancel both shifts at all centres to ensure fairness and uniformity in the process. The cancellation comes weeks after the Uttar Pradesh govt raised objections to SGPGI’s decision to give additional charge of Joint Director (Administration) to Joint Director (Material Management) Prakash Singh. SGPGI has not connected Sunday’s cancellation to any administrative issue and attributed it solely to technical problems. Candidates from several states had travelled to Lucknow for the examination.
