Varanasi: The blackboards were empty and classrooms quiet on Saturday as teachers stepped onto the sports field with energy, excitement and a competitive spirit during a Teachers’ Day celebration at Vikas Inter College.
In the 100-metre race, Nandani Verma raced ahead and claimed first place with an impressive timing of 15 seconds. The excitement continued in the 200-metre race, where Anupam Singh and Geetanjali shared the winner’s spot, both completing the race in 32 seconds as joint champions. Chandni Patel took second place, while Akanksha Yadav secured third.A total of 52 teachers participated, stepping beyond classroom walls to display their sporting talent.

AK Singh, Chairman of Vikas Educational Group, said the programme delivered an important message — along with education, sports and physical activities are also essential for personality development. Dolly Pal finished second, Astha secured third, Neelima Singh came fourth, and Mahjabi stood fifth. The atmosphere turned lively as fellow teachers and spectators cheered loudly for every participant.
