“The BJP and NDA have organised more than 100 such marches across the country. He also claimed that the Yogi govt had provided more than 12.5 lakh govt jobs through a transparent recruitment process.

Lucknow/Gorakhpur: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Wednesday led the party’s “Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao” (Save Democracy, Eliminate Anarchy) march in Gorakhpur , using the occasion to launch a scathing attack on the opposition bloc, primarily Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav , while exuding confidence about the prospects of the NDA govt returning to power in the 2027 Assembly elections. These programmes are proof of the people’s faith in democracy and in the leadership of PM Modi,” he said during the march, which was attended by CM Yogi Adityanath , BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary, Nishad Party chief Sanjay Nishad, BJP state general secretary (organisation) Dharampal Singh, Union minister of state Kamlesh Paswan and several state ministers, MPs and NDA allies. He cited the Emergency era and the alleged “poor” treatment meted out to Constitution architect BR Ambedkar as examples to back his criticism. Highlighting development projects in eastern UP, the BJP chief said Gorakhpur had emerged as a centre of industrial growth, with institutions such as AIIMS and the revived fertiliser plant creating new opportunities for employment and investment.

Nabin further accused the Congress of misusing democratic institutions during its tenure in power and alleged that the party had historically shown little respect for constitutional values.

Addressing a gathering, Nabin said the BJP’s nationwide campaign to “save democracy” reflected growing public support for PM Narendra Modi and the NDA, while exposing what he described as the opposition’s attempts to undermine democratic institutions following the recent electoral defeats. He said that the BJP’s development-focused politics stood in sharp contrast with the opposition’s “family-centric politics”. “The people of UP will once again reject negative politics and support development and good governance,” he said. Referring to opposition allegations regarding electoral rolls, the BJP chief said opposition parties were “inventing” excuses for repeated electoral setbacks rather than introspecting over their gross political failures.

The BJP president credited Modi and Yogi for transforming UP through development, employment generation and governance reforms. Nabin squarely attacked Rahul over his criticism of electoral processes and voter list revisions.
