The 42.195-km race on Nov 19 will begin at Anand Bhawan and end at Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium. Prayagraj: The route for this year’s Indira Marathon remains unchanged.
The survey found more than 17 small and large potholes along the route. Heavy traffic was reported at several major intersections. The official marathon website is expected to be launched and online registration for runners will begin.
The sports department has completed its route survey and submitted a detailed report to the district magistrate, flagging road damage and traffic-related concerns. Following the instructions of the district magistrate Manish Kumar Verma , officials from various departments will be assigned specific responsibilities during the meeting, while a plan will be prepared to repair damaged stretches and ensure smooth traffic movement on race day. Soil and loose material scattered on some stretches were also identified as potential hazards for runners. The sports department has recommended immediate repair of the damaged roads and strict traffic diversions during the marathon. The run will begin at Anand Bhawan and pass through Teliyarganj, Mahashay, Dhobi Ghat, Heera Halwai Chauraha, AG Office, Indira Gandhi Chauraha, Polo Ground and High Court Hanuman Temple. Runners will then proceed through Subhash Chauraha, Civil Lines, Medical Chauraha, SPM, Bairhana and the new bridge towards the Rewa Road side. In the Naini area, the route will cover Chaka block, Mama-Bhanja Talab and Bhalla Chauraha before reaching the turning point near Dandupur petrol pump. From there, runners will return towards the city and complete the race at Madan Mohan Malviya Stadium. The Athletics Federation of India has already given in-principle approval for the route.

Regional Sports Officer in-charge Shiv Yadav said the route inspection had been completed and no change had been proposed. Download the TOI App.
