Lucknow: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Monday accused BJP govt of targeting madrassa and Sanskrit teachers and reiterated that the old pension scheme (OPS) would be restored once SP was voted to form govt in Uttar Pradesh after the 2027 assembly elections. SP govt allocated Rs 200 crore in the budget as honorarium for teachers at unaided schools and will make similar provisions in the future as well,” Akhilesh said.
Accusing BJP govt of targeting madrasas to propel its politics of hate, Akhilesh said all problems faced by these schools would be resolved under SP govt. “The salaries of modern madrassa teachers would be reinstated and pending dues would be paid,” he said, adding that BJP govt has not only targeted madrassa teachers but also Sanskrit teachers as well. Instead, Govt should use land parcels that it claims to have freed from the mafia, he said. Under BJP govt, farmers are being exploited in the name of land acquisition,” the SP chief said.
“SP has consistently worked for the welfare of public servants in general and teachers community in particular. Akhilesh described BJP as the biggest land mafia party in the state and questioned the need to force farmers to give away their land at prices lower than the circle rates. “BJP is the biggest land mafia party in the state. In Uttar Pradesh, most of the illegal and unauthorised buildings are in possession of BJP functionaries.
Akhilesh said BJP govt had not addressed the issues of Shiksha Mitras who, under SP govt, were made teachers and their salaries increased. He called upon the electoral colleges of the teachers’ and graduates’ constituency to vote in favour of SP candidates including MLC Lal Bihari Yadav from Mirzapur-Varanasi Teachers’ Constituency, Sushil Kumar from Lucknow, Prakash Chandra Gupta from Agra, Kamlesh Yadav from Gorakhpur-Faizabad, Danish Akhtar from Moradabad-Bareilly and Nitin Tomar from Meerut Teachers’ Constituency.
