The victim, Nagma (R), had been married to Parvez (L) for nearly 12 years.
LUCKNOW: A 28-year-old woman was allegedly beheaded by her husband while she slept at their rented home in Hardoi’s Islamnagar Tiliya locality late on Tuesday night. The victim, Nagma, had been married to Parvez for nearly 12 years. She died on the spot due to the severity of the injuries.
Their relationship had been strained for months as Parvez allegedly suspected his wife of being in contact with another man over the phone, according to police. Investigators said Nagma was asleep when Parvez allegedly attacked her with a sharp-edged weapon. He repeatedly slashed and stabbed her before severing her head, police said. Police said Parvez had shifted there after selling his ancestral property following a family partition.
Police arrested the accused, identified as Parvez, after he reportedly walked into a police station and surrendered following the killing. The couple had been living in a rented house in Islamnagar Tiliya for the past one-and-a-half months.
The murder has sparked serious allegations from the victim’s family. Nagma’s sister, Sabbo, claimed that she had been facing sustained physical abuse and threats from her husband. She alleged that Parvez had repeatedly threatened to slit Nagma’s throat in the days leading up to the murder. The family also alleged that some of Parvez’s relatives were present in the house when the crime occurred.
Police reached the spot, sent the body for post-mortem examination and launched a detailed investigation. Officers are questioning Parvez, examining the family’s allegations and attempting to recover the weapon used in the crime.
