Gorakhpur : Those travelling between Gorakhpur and Maharajganj will have a new option in a double-decker AC electric bus to begin operations on the route from Sept 28. The service will be launched after a successful trial run conducted on Friday.
New Electric Double-Decker Bus Enhances Regional Connectivity
Officials have announced the introduction of an electric double-decker bus aimed at increasing passenger capacity and providing a comfortable, cost-effective travel option. This new service follows the successful operation of a similar air-conditioned electric double-decker bus on the Gorakhpur–Kasya route.
According to roadways officials, the addition of this bus service is expected to alleviate daily commuting challenges and enhance tourism in the area by improving transportation links.
The Gorakhpur depot currently operates around 20 AC electric buses on routes including Ayodhya, Varanasi, Tamkuhiraj, Salempur and Sonauli. In the city, 25 electric buses are already in service, while another 25 are expected to be added soon. State govt also approved 150 air-conditioned electric buses for urban transport services across designated areas.
