Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the free transfer of 26 hectares (about 65 acres) of barren govt land in Ayodhya ’s Milkipur tehsil to ministry of home affairs for setting up a regional hub of National Security Guard (NSG).
Ayodhya Enhances Security with New NSG Presence
The government has approved the acquisition of a land parcel in Pure Lalkhan village, valued at ₹16.90 crore, to establish a permanent National Security Guard (NSG) presence in Ayodhya. This decision is a response to the increasing number of visitors to the city following the construction and consecration of the Ram Temple.
Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna highlighted that Ayodhya has become a significant cultural, religious, and strategic hub, attracting visitors from across India and abroad. The surge in foot traffic has raised security concerns, prompting the need for enhanced security measures in the region.

The facility will also provide an additional security layer for highly sensitive and strategic installations in Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas, enhancing the state’s overall internal security preparedness, according to the state govt. Under the cabinet decision, the land will be transferred to home ministry at no cost, specifically for establishing the NSG regional hub. Govt has stipulated that the land may be used only for the NSG facility and cannot be diverted for any other purpose. The cabinet also granted an exception by relaxing provisions governing disposal or allotment of govt land, citing Ayodhya’s enhanced security requirements and national security considerations. The land must be put to the intended use within three years. If it is not utilised within that period, or if the requirement ends in the future, the parcel will automatically revert to Uttar Pradesh Revenue Department for disposal. Download the TOI App.
