Lucknow: The state’s IT and electronics department on Wednesday held a meeting to assess the implementation of its investment and technology policies, with IT and electronics minister Sunil Kumar Sharma directing officials to speed up projects, incentives and initiatives aimed at strengthening the sector’s contribution to UP’s $ 1 trillion economy target.

Sharma said the IT and electronics sector had an important role in achieving UP’s $ 1 trillion economy target and stressed that effective implementation of policies and creation of an investor-friendly environment were necessary to translate investment proposals into projects.

“Investment in the technology sector should not only strengthen the state’s economy but also create opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship for the youth,” Sharma said. Progress of the IT policy, electronics manufacturing policy, semiconductor policy, data centre policy, startup policy and provisions related to global capability centres (GCCs) were reviewed. He directed officials to ensure that benefits of incentives and initiatives reached investors, companies and young people.
