Lucknow: Strengthening experiential education and connecting students to the state’s cultural heritage, UP govt has decided to include visits to govt museums in the one-day educational tour programme for students of Classes IX to XII studying in PM SHRI schools.

“Through artefacts, sculptures, coins, paintings and other historical exhibits, students would gain an opportunity to experience and understand concepts that they usually learn through textbooks, making education more engaging, informative and experiential,” officials said. “This would enable students to gain a close understanding of their heritage, with the museums serving as ‘living laboratories for learning beyond the classroom’,” Sharma said. Additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma has issued directions to all district inspectors of schools (DIOS) to conduct this guided tour free of cost. He has asked officials to ensure visits to museums located in their districts or nearby districts and to submit geo-tagged photographs and videos of the activities to the state project office. In addition, students would also be taken to higher educational institutions to broaden their exposure and learning opportunities. Download the TOI App.
