Lucknow: Saturday’s heavy rain brought traffic to a crawl across the city, leaving dozens of vehicles stranded in waterlogged stretches.
Severe Vehicle Failures Reported in Flooded Underpasses
The Marine Drive underpass was among the most affected areas during recent flooding, leading to significant vehicle breakdowns. Local resident Rahul Sharma recounted his family’s distressing experience: “My car suddenly stalled and later I found the sump had broken. The repair bill could be around ₹1.5 lakh.”
Another underpass, connecting Janeshwar Mishra Park to Hotel Taj, faced similar issues. Locals reported that over 50 vehicles broke down between 3 pm and 6 pm while attempting to navigate the flooded stretch. The extent of vehicle failures underscores the urgent need for infrastructure improvements in flood-prone areas.

IT professional Saurabh Singh said his hatchback developed electrical problems after driving through a waterlogged road in Gomti Nagar. “ Getting help was nearly impossible because mechanics couldn’t reach the area,” he said. Download the TOI App.
