A 30-year-old farmer in Muzaffarnagar has died after his wife reportedly administered a large quantity of sleeping pills mixed with milk. The incident, which police say was intended to allow the woman, aged 25, to meet her lover, has led to the arrest of both the wife and her alleged partner, who is 26 years old. The arrests occurred on Saturday following the farmer’s death, which has raised significant concern in the local community.
Rakib Khan was found dead at his home in Ratanpuri village on September 8.
Police said his wife, Tabassum, and her lover, Shahrukh, wanted to make him fall into a deep sleep, but the dose was allegedly too high and he died. Muzaffarnagar SP (rural) Akshay Sanjay said sedative pills and their wrappers were recovered from the suspects. Rakib and Tabassum have four children, according to police.
“Police are also investigating where the pills came from and how the accused obtained them. Further action in the case is underway,” he added.
Details Emerge in Culpable Homicide Case
Shahrukh, a daily wage labourer from Saharanpur, has been implicated in a culpable homicide case involving his brother-in-law, Rakib, and a woman named Tabassum. Reports indicate that Shahrukh and Tabassum were in a relationship for approximately two years. Both individuals have been placed in judicial custody following the filing of a First Information Report (FIR) under BNS Section 105, which pertains to culpable homicide.
