Lucknow : Driven by its three-year Excise Export Policy (2026-29), UP has registered a massive surge in liquor shipments, recording growth of more than three-and-a-half times the national average, officials said on Sunday. In July 2026, the state’s bottled liquor exports touched $55.2 lakh, an 89.7% year-on-year jump from $29.1 lakh in July 2025, compared with overall national growth of 25.7% during the same period. The surge raised UP’s share of national monthly shipments from 8.3% to 12.5%, placing it third nationwide after Maharashtra and Punjab. Whisky exports rose 78.8%, while vodka registered a 100% increase in July. In volume terms, state exports jumped 230%, outpacing the national 90% rise. Between April and July 2026, cumulative exports reached $183 lakh, compared with $117 lakh in the year-ago period, bringing in an additional $66 lakh in foreign exchange. Active export lines grew from 29 to 39, while operational departure ports increased from seven to 10. Excise commissioner Adarsh Singh noted that bottled liquor shipments expanded 55.2% even as national volumes dropped 11.7%, creating ancillary growth across packaging, glass, labelling and freight networks statewide.
