Woman died after coming into contact with a broken high-tension power line in Farrukhabad
Kanpur: A 26-year-old woman died after coming into contact with a broken high-tension power line in Mirpur village early on Monday morning, police said. Ragini, wife of Anand Kumar and resident of Mohalla Chilanka in Farrukhabad’s Kayamganj, was staying with her mother Lali after her father’s death. She had gone to a field at Dayaram’s nursery when she came in contact with the broken wire and fell unconscious. Some passers-by saw her and alerted the electricity department, after which power supply from the Barjhala feeder was shut down. Ragini was taken to CHC Kayamganj where a doctor declared her dead after examination. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and initiated further proceedings.
Junior engineer Krishna Kumar Maurya said power supply was shut for three days as line testing was under way. He said that compensation would be arranged for Ragini’s family.
