Yadav owns 5.5 bighas of land in Tirpunia village, under Bhamora police station in Bareilly district, but claims that only one bigha remains in his possession. He has been fighting a legal battle to reclaim his land and house since his release from jail in 2024. “Due to social stigma, my parents decided to commit mass suicide.

He was released on interim bail by the Supreme Court after filing a contempt petition.

I told my father, I will kill the accused and then you will have a life to spend with your chin up. After that, I killed everyone involved in the coming days,” he said. Yadav was convicted in two murder cases, one in Bareilly and the other in Budaun, and sentenced to death. The sentences were later commuted to life imprisonment. Yadav alleged that he approached the police with a complaint, but no FIR was registered and no action was taken against those accused. He claimed that the incident and the social stigma surrounding it left his family so distressed that his parents decided to end their lives. They decided to make kheer, put poison in it for us to eat as our last dinner. But then, I saw my family rifle.

Yadav alleged that while he was in jail, all members of his family died and people he had accused in the case encroached on his property. He identified one of them as former Samajwadi Party MP Veer Pal Singh Yadav, who denied the allegations.
