The Mukhyamantri Krishak Uphaar Yojana is an initiative of the Uttar Pradesh Government aimed at encouraging farmers to bring and sell their agricultural produce through newly established market yards (mandis).
The scheme seeks to promote participation of farmers in the organised agricultural marketing system while providing selected farmers with useful agricultural equipment as incentives.
The eligible farmers are issued coupons worth Rs 5,000 on the basis of their mandi transactions and Form-6, which records the agricultural produce transaction. How the scheme works Farmers entering new mandis to sell their produce are issued coupons according to the prescribed procedure. Under the scheme, farmers who sell their agricultural produce in the new market yards are eligible to participate in a monthly and half-yearly lucky-draw-based incentive system. These coupons are then considered for periodic draws. The scheme provides two categories of draws: Monthly Draw: Selected farmers receive agricultural and farm-use equipment as prizes. Half-Yearly Draw: A separate set of larger agricultural and utility equipment is offered to selected farmers. By offering useful farm equipment rather than only cash rewards, the scheme can provide selected beneficiaries with assets that may support cultivation and farm operations. The initiative also encourages farmers to use new mandi facilities for selling their produce. This is particularly relevant to Uttar Pradesh’s wider efforts to strengthen agricultural marketing infrastructure, improve market access and create better facilities for farmers. In simple terms A farmer selling agricultural produce in an eligible new mandi can receive a coupon as prescribed under the scheme. The coupon gives the farmer an opportunity to participate in the monthly or half-yearly draw. Selected farmers can receive equipment ranging from pump sets, fodder cutters and power sprayers to tractors and solar pump sets. Thus, the scheme combines mandi participation, agricultural marketing and incentives for farm mechanisation, with the broader objective of encouraging farmers to use organised market facilities while potentially gaining access to useful agricultural assets.
