Indian skin tones vary widely, featuring a variety of shades from light to dark with different undertones, namely neutral, olive, cool and warm. However, when it comes to makeup selection, people usually choose products that look bright or lighter on the skin, which makes the selection wrong. Makeup is not supposed to change the skin’s tone but simply enhance it.

Because these areas may have a different colour from the face, matching it to the hand or wrist can be misleading.
Vaishnavi Jain, beauty expert, makeup artist, educator, and entrepreneur, along with her role as head of product development at PAC Cosmetics, says, “The biggest mistake while choosing makeup is chasing fairness instead of focusing on a healthy, even, and well-balanced complexion. The best way to find the right match is to test the foundation along the jawline and blend it towards the neck. The right foundation should blend seamlessly into the skin without leaving a visible line. Foundation, blush, and highlighter should work together to enhance the skin’s natural beauty, not compete with it. Good makeup is not about making someone look like a different person. It is about choosing the right colours, textures, and techniques to bring out their best features. When makeup blends naturally with the skin, the result looks effortless, feels comfortable, and allows the person wearing it to remain the centre of attention.”
